Here is an opening discussion item / request. The OTFORD SCHOOL FAIR is scheduled for Saturday, September 5th, 2009. If you have any old memorabilia or photos of Otford then please let me know as we are planning to do a historical display.

ReplyDeleteI have a copy of the Otford Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade (1946 - 1996). Conatined within is a brief history of Otford starting from 1870 & news articles from 1880s (Mercury) and some photos dating back to the turn of the 19th Century. The author still lives in Otford and may be able to provide copies of said photos.

ReplyDeleteYes, I hav ealready thought about a vintage Fire Engine and I will approach the RFS and the NSW Fire Brigades in the coming weeks - I know of at least 4 NSW members in Otford I can approach.I've been told the Museum of Fire at Penrith has some cool stuff - I realise it's a bit far away. Perhaps we can draft a letter and see if we can hook them up.I suppose with most vintage vehicles the biggest issue is going to be whether they are still in working order - worth a try neverless. I'll keep you posted...TC
